Pianist Wins Awards

The

Piano Plus Studio of Betty Chester

is pleased to announce that Desiree McFadden is the Division 3 Winner of the Thirteenth Annual

Mid-State Music Teachers Association Scholarship Competition

. It was held May 21 at Florida College in Temple Terrace. Desiree, a home-schooled sophomore, won by playing works by Haydn, Paradisi and Mendelssohn against other 10th and 11th graders. She was awarded a cash prize and tickets to the Sarasota Opera among other prizes.
Last year, Desiree was the Hillsborough County winner of the Community Service Award presented by Mid-State Music Teachers Association (see attached photo). She received a plaque for her many hours of musical volunteering. In April Desiree received a Certificate of Achievement with Honors from the

Florida State Music Teachers Association

. Desiree is attending a Piano Camp at Pensacola Christian College for two weeks this summer.
